Singing Mamas visit Bryn-Yr-Haul

Singing Mamas: Creating Connection Through Music at Our Care Home

We’re proud to welcome the Singing Mamas to our care home as regular visitors, bringing with them a unique and meaningful experience that blends music, community, and connection across generations.

The Singing Mamas are a group of local mums who meet to sing together, and as part of their outreach, they visit care homes with their babies and children in tow to share songs in a relaxed and inclusive way. Their visits have become an exciting thing to look forward to for residents and staff, offering something a little different and very special.

Each session involves gentle singing that encourages participation but places no pressure on anyone to join in. Residents are invited to listen, hum along, or sing if they wish. The songs are often familiar, but even when they’re not, the harmonies and warm atmosphere make them easy to enjoy. There’s no formal performance; just people coming together to share music.

One of the most heartwarming aspects of these visits is the presence of young children. Their energy and curiosity often bring smiles to the faces of residents, sparking memories and conversations long after the sessions end. It’s a natural, intergenerational connection that feels effortless but has a lasting impact.

Music has long been known to support emotional wellbeing and memory, especially for older people and those living with dementia. But beyond the research, we see the benefits each time the Singing Mamas visit with relaxed faces, gentle laughter, and a sense of calm that lingers.

We’re very grateful to the Singing Mamas for choosing to spend time with us regularly. Their visits are a quiet, joyful reminder of how powerful shared moments can be.
