Darleen's visit to Everton FC
Darleen has rediscovered her independence after acquiring her mobility car.
It has been a long-term dream of hers to return to Liverpool and visit Everton Football Club. This dream became a reality and in early April Darleen and Plas Y Bryn’s Activity Coordinator, Brandon, attended the Hill Dickinson Stadium Tour, Everton’s brand-new state of the art purpose-built area!
Boarding the steepest stands in the country did not phase Darleen at all, who has a known fear of heights. It was a brilliant day.
All who know Darleen are aware that her biggest passion is her music. Due to a few personal reasons, she hasn’t felt comfortable out in the community and around nightlife environments; however, to address this a plan was formed by Darleen and her supporting team.
For the first time in years, Darleen was going to do what she loved most, going to a live concert and watching one of her favourite artists.
We went.
We listened.
We danced.
We had an amazing time!
Thanks to Darleen’s newfound confidence and determination, she did what she wanted to do and broke barriers down which at one point seemed indestructible.
Together we are now planning more, meaningful, and enriching outings that Darleen is passionate about.
I know the staff are loving being able to be with her on this journey, and in Darleen’s own words, “My mental health is so much better” and “I’ve got my life back”.
