Barley Brook Residential Dementia Care Home in Wigan is a small, welcoming home specialising in supporting people living with dementia.
With just 28 residents, Barley Brook offers a personal approach to care, where the team has the time to truly get to know each individual – their life story, personality, routines, preferences and the things that bring them comfort and happiness.
Care is shaped around each person, with individual care plans, meaningful one-to-one time and familiar daily routines. Favourite music, conversations, memories, everyday activities and time with family all help residents feel safe, reassured and at home.
Barley Brook’s experienced team understands that dementia affects everyone differently. Care is delivered with patience, compassion and understanding, helping residents maintain their individuality, independence and connections with the people and things that matter most.
At Barley Brook, dementia care is not simply about looking after someone. It is about truly understanding them.

Hello, my name is Geraldine Rose and I am proud to be the Registered Manager at Barley Brook. I have over 30 years’ experience in health and social care and hold a Level 5 qualification in Management and Leadership.
I am passionate about providing specialist dementia care that protects dignity and recognises the individual behind the diagnosis. At Barley Brook, our small size allows us to really get to know our residents, their life stories, routines and the things that matter most to them.
I am equally passionate about supporting and developing our team, creating a caring environment where everyone can be their best.
Outside work, I enjoy family time, long walks, hiking and sharing home-cooked meals together.
